Posted by TVSC on Tuesday, January 24, 2012
THE Torrens Valley Rams junior registration day is Sunday February 12 from 1-4pm at Birdwood Park. We welcome new faces as well as existing players to attend during this event if you intend to play in 2012.We offer non-competitive and competitive girls-only and mixed teams for ages from 5+ to 16 and welcome new players with or without previous experience.
Please pass the word around to friends or family who may like to play or be involved in the club. The first home and away match is planned for Saturday April 21.
Once teams have been determined we will notify players of training dates and times. Keep up to date with what's going on at www.torrensvalleysoccerclub.com.
See you on Saturday February 12 at Birdwood Park!
If you can't make the registration day?
Send your parents or contact us to let us know that you intend to play this season. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. How old do you need to be? We're looking for junior players from five years old to 16 years old. The AHJSA has moved to a two year grading, so that this season the competitive grades will be Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 mixed, and Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 girls only teams. The non-competitive grades are still Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s. Torrens Valley are likely to field an U17 Girls team, however we would like also to be able to field younger girls teams. Both the U14 and U16 mixed teams also require additional players.
What if I'm too old to play junior soccer?
You'll be excited to know that we also have two existing senior mens teams in the SA Amateur League as well as a FFSA ladies team starting in 2012. Our senior section continues to strengthen and we look for new players for all of these teams. If you know ex-juniors or others who would like to play, please don't hesitate to contact us.
How much does it cost?
Club fees remain unchanged from last year. We would appreciate it if you could pay the full club fees at the registration day, by either cash or cheque. You can make a direct deposit to our account if this is more convenient. In individual cases that require potential flexible payment options, please contact the treasurer to discuss.
What if I know someone else who might want to play?
At this moment in time, it is important for the future of the club to increase our numbers. An effective way of recruiting new players is by word of mouth from existing players and families to their friends. So please, if you know kids who may want to play, played in the past, or just have a try out, encourage them to contact the club. The more players we have in teams, the better the teams can operate. The club is conjunction with the AHJSA and the FFSA ran a junior clinic at Birdwood Primary School at the end of last year. We had a good turnout, mainly of younger kids, and it was well received. If you are involved with Birdwood PS, please encourage the kids to come along and play with us this season.
What can I do to help?
We are still looking for people who are able to help out but don’t want to be on the committee. The canteen co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring that the canteen is supplied (so generally once a week checking on food, drink, equipment and arranging restocking).
The fundraising co-ordinator is primarily responsible for organising the Quiz Night (with help from the committee!). Helpers also wanted here. Both of these roles are important as the club relies on these sources of income to continue. We also need someone who is available on pre-season training nights to sell/hand-out uniforms. If you feel you can contribute to any of these roles, please contact the committee.
